Everything happens for a reason!

Today was a special day at the store!  For one, I am very grateful for all the customers  both new and repeat that came into see me and do a little shopping.  But secondly, I had a return out of town customer whom fell in love with my mixed media canvas which was on display.  Apparently she was moved by it and asked if she could purchase it for her adult daughter.  Her daughter, she said, is recovering from an addiction and she shared her fears and hopes for her daughter.  She felt this canvas would be a source of inspiration to her.  This mixed media canvas was designed after inspiration from Gabriella Pollacco and I had planned to share it and techniques used to make it with Paper Mermaids customers in August.  Part of me wanted to scream "oh no that's for my class" but instead  I will be making another soon but wanted to share a photo, of the one that went home to her daughter, with you.  I feel blessed to have shared in something so special.

Busy as a "Bee".

It has been awhile since I have made a post, life has been hectic but good.  I have still been crafting though and want to share a project I have been working on.

When Graphic 45 released its Ladies Diary paper line recently I really wanted to find some way to show it off.  The colors are some of my favorites!  I had a 3 drawer what not box I got on a clearance table at a local department store so I got to work.  After lots of layering fun I made some flowers for accent and added some G45 metal butterfly's, some vintage buttons for drawer knobs and a touch of ribbon.

We still have this line in stock at Paper Mermaids.

It's a "Boy".

I started carrying Authentique paper in my store last month and I love it!  I started with the Miracle Collection kits for boys and girls.  I have been using the boy kit and it contains so much product (paper assortment and embellishments) I have created a shadow box frame, several cards and so I decided to make a mini book (6" x 6")  that is 5 pages and has a page for a picture for each month of the new babies life up to 6 months and some extras.

All I needed to add was  a few buttons, rhinestones, rings and some ribbon.  What a great gift idea.

The Ride of Your Life

This Mini book was created with the SEI Fair Day paper collection.  There is room for lots of pictures.  With Spring break, state and county fairs and Summer vacations just around the corner this book could be a special keepsake.

Happy Birthday Liz!

My daughter was invited to a sleepover birthday party.  She said her friend loved panda bears so I broke out my Cricut create a critter cartridge and made this bag and tag.  Rachel got her a stuffed Panda with a baby Panda on its back and we also made her a altered journal to write her special thoughts. Happy Birthday Liz!

My Miracle

I created this 8x8 shadow box frame using the Authentique baby boy Miracle paper line.  I found the colors to be soft and workable with lots of project ideas.  The picture is of my son who is now 23 years old!  It was sure fun breaking out that picture, remembering what a miracle a new baby is and what joy this young man has brought to my life.  I am pleased to give this photo a great place to be enjoyed!

Paper Shoe

Today was my first attempt to make a Marie Antoinette shoe.  Saw several tutorials on you tube.  I used SEI paper because it looked so elegant and a vintage button.

I'm planning on making some more with a little more bling!

Love Birds

This giant wooden clothespin was decorated with the Bo Bunny "Crush" paper line. It stands almost a foot tall and holds a picture of  "2 sweet love birds" at the top.  This picture was taken as an engagement photo for my son's high school friend Matt and his lovely now bride.
What a sweet couple!

It's a new year of memories!

Here is a cute desk top 4x6" calendar I designed for a January class at my store Paper Mermaids.  So much fun to create and a special photo to enjoy each month for a year:

This is so much fun to make and a new picture to make you smile every month.
